The Ford Mondeo has been named the greenest family car at the What Car? Green Awards.

It comes just nine months after the magazine named the Mondeo as the best overall family and estate car. What Car? editor-in-chief Chas Hallett said: "Ford has done great things to the Mondeo.

"The award-winning 1.6 TDCi is the best green family car, a brilliant all-rounder and remarkably eco-friendly with its low CO2 rating of 114g/km."

Chas added: "The judging team praised its supple and controlled ride, lively chassis and perfectly weighted steering."
