The four
Greenpeace protesters who remained on the coal-carrying ship docked
at Kingsnorth power station have ended their peaceful
demonstration.

They came down from the foremast of the vessel on Monday night
after negotiations with police and E.ON.

All four were arrested and are being held on suspicion of
maritime offences.

Six others were arrested earlier on Monday.

Police went to the scene just before 11pm
Sunday after reports of Greenpeace protesters trying to
stop a ship carrying coal from docking at the power station in
Medway.

A police spokesman said the protesters used
ribs and some entered the water in their efforts. The ship did
manage to dock.

One of the protesters, Sarah Shoraka, spoke to
us from the scene on Monday.

She said: "The reason we're doing this is
because coal is the most climate-wrecking fuel there is."

ACC Gary Beautridge said: "Clearly we are
dealing with a difficult and potentially dangerous situation."
