Motorists are being warned to expect major delays on parts of the A20 today.
Maintenance works on the A20 between York Street Roundabout and Eastern Docks Roundabout in Dover means the roads could face gridlock from now until late tomorrow.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and to avoid busy periods if they can.
The works on the A20 are part of a major Highways Agency road improvement scheme to keep the A20 in a safe condition.
It includes replacing the existing road surface on both carriageways and on all five roundabouts of the A20 between the Western Heights Roundabout to the Eastern Docks Roundabout.
Work will take place today and tomorrow on the eastbound carriageway between York Street Roundabout and Eastern Docks Roundabout as follows:
Friday daytime (5am - 8pm)
The eastbound carriageway between York Street Roundabout and Eastern Docks Roundabout will have a lane one closure.
Friday overnight (8pm - 5am)
The eastbound carriageway between York Street Roundabout and Eastern Docks Roundabout will be completely closed with a fully signed diversion in place.
Saturday daytime (from 5am to 8pm)
There will only be minor eastbound lane closures on small sections between Western Heights Roundabout and Eastern Docks Roundabout during the day on Saturday 7 June.
