Gritters are being deployed on Kent's roads this evening as temperatures are set to tumble below freezing.
Motorists are being advised to exercise caution on untreated roads overnight and into tomorrow morning.
Road surface temperatures are predicted to be below freezing from 10pm.
In anticipation, all of Kent's major roads will be treated by Kent County Council's highways team operating the authority's fleet of gritters.
The alert was issued by Toby Howe, winter duty officer for KCC's highways, transportation and waste.
Drivers are being warned to be aware of icy patches, particularly on untreated roads, and urged to drive with caution avoiding any sharp breaking or harsh acceleration or steering.
