CHILDREN at a Kent school are using their green fingers to help their sister school in Malawi.

The youngsters from Pluckley Primary, near Ashford, have begun a project to grow flowers and vegetables in new allotments to raise funds for the African school.

But the pupils are appealing for materials to help in their works, such as seeds and equipment, water butts, trowels and gardening forks.

Teacher Debbie Breach said: "We have already had material such as scaffolding planks donated to border the allotments, but we would be delighted if more items could be donated.

"Our sister school is a primary called Chikwawa and we have just sponsored one pupil from there to go to secondary school."

To offer help call the school on 01233 840422.
