Grab your mask or broom and make your way to a Halloween Spooktacular Party being held held at The Centre, Farthing Corner this weekend.

There will be spooky games, competitions and Halloween themed food. Children are invited to come along in fancy dress and there will be prizes for the best costumes as well as the best Pumpkin lantern.

Other Halloween games will be held on the day.

Admission is £5 per child aged 0 to 10 - all children must be accompanied by an adult.

The event, which takes place from 3pm to 5pm tomorrow has been organised in aid of 13-year-old Jack Blanchard.

The Rainham Mark pupil was left brain damaged after being assaulted by a mob of youths at Parkwood Green, Rainham, in July.

He is slowly recovering from his injuries, but it will be some time before he is able to walk again.

There will also be spooky goings on for residents of St Mary's Island this Halloween.

A ghoul themed disco for youngsters takes place at the community centre between 5.30pm and 7pm on Thursday.

The event has been organised by local Lianne Beale, with some help from Moat and funding from the Chatham Maritime Trust.

Guests are likely to include witches, wizards, ghosts and devils as well as lots of other spooky looking individuals.

A DJ will provide musical entertainment and a television screen for dancers to see themselves having a Halloween boogie.

Tickets have been on sale from the community centre since mid-October and flyers have been handed out locally.

There will also be tickets available at the door for £3.50 each.

Moat sustainability officer, Katriona Staples says: “Residents at the Island make great use of the community centre and this is a fun opportunity to highlight how valuable a resource it is.

"We hope to bring together residents of all ages and build on the already impressive local community spirit.”
