But the Blonde Bimbos, from Broadstairs, had a message to other competitors at the Flugtag flying competition at Hyde Park: have handbag, will travel.

The team designed their flying machine as a girly pink handbag, complete with feathers.

Of course, the flying experience would not have been complete without naff blonde wigs and a couple of strategically placed balloons!

Winners of the competition, which involved jumping off a six-metre ramp into the Serpentine, were the Glad Winners, who managed a staggering 17 metres before getting a soaking.

Other entrants included four break-dancing nuns and the mythological character Icarus.
