Head-on crash woman cut free

A WOMAN had to be cut out of a car by firefighters after a head-on collision.

The passenger, who is in her 20s, was in a Fiat car that was involved in a crash with a van in Capstone Road, Gillingham, at around 2pm on Tuesday.

The road had to be completely closed off from Wyevale Garden Centre to the Waggon at Hale pub, while emergency services cleared the scene.

A spokeman from Kent Fire and Rescue said: "We were called after the woman complained of back and neck pain, so we had to cut her out of the car and put her on a spinal board as a safety precaution."

The woman was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital with head and leg injuries. The driver of the van suffered minor injuries.
