An art project to creat a crab out of sandbags will be part of events for Low Tide Day on the beahc at Cliftonville on Saturday.

An afternoon of fun and education is being planned by Thanet Coast Project.

It starts with the family project to create a Lido crab out of sandbags on the former Lido swimming pool site.

Ramsgate artist Ruth Cutler will lead the event, starting at 2pm.

A second Low Tide Day exploration will investigate rock pools to discover what wild beasts lurk there. This starts at 5pm.

Tony Child, Thanet Coast Project manager, said: “The afternoon will be fun, aimed at helping to create one of our well-known coastal inhabitants, followed by a glimpse into our unique marine life.”

Both events are free. Low Tide Day is a national celebration held annually.

Forthcoming TCP events include Coast on Camera, a walk with cameras from 10am on Saturday, May 10, along Kingsgate’s shores.
