A talented youngster is heading down-under to represent England at baton twirling.
Danika Garrett, 13, from Minster, has been baton twirling for five years, and next August she is due to head to Australia for an international baton twirling competition.
Two other Islanders, Kimberley Joyce and Jody Allchin, will also be flying out next summer.
The girls are looking for sponsorship, as the trip could set them back more than £2,000.
Danika’s mum, Paula, said: “I’m very proud of her, she’s so excited about going to Australia.
“They are training hard and I think they feel pretty confident.”
On Saturday December 20 there will be a fund-raising evening to raise money for Danika’s trip.
It will be from 7.30pm at Layzells in The Broadway, Minster, and Dan’s Devils will perform a pom-pom routine. Tickets cost £2 for adults and £1 for children and a buffet is included.
