ANGRY firefighters have spoken out against hoax callers after a drunken reveller dialled 999 and demanded a lift home. Crews from Medway Fire Station rushed to the junction of Trafalgar Street and Duncan Road in Gillingham at 2.10am after a man in his mid-30s called the emergency services.
The caller had refused to say why the fire service was required. One pump was sent out and when they arrived at the scene, the man told them he wanted a lift to St Mary's Island.
A spokesman for Kent Fire Brigade said: "This is an outrageous abuse of the emergency services. Hoax calls cost lives. Use the emergency services, don't abuse them."
