A HOODED thief snatched a handbag from a woman in a wheelchair in Cliftonville on Monday morning.

The 47-year-old victim was approached from behind as she turned from Northumberland Avenue into Old Green Lane at 9.15am.

Police say the woman tried to catch the thief but was unable. The bag contained a red purse with hearts on it, keys, a mobile phone and £60.

The suspect is said to be about 5’8” tall and wore a dark blue top with the hood up, dark coloured tracksuit bottoms and black shoes.
