Horse rider injured in fall

A WOMAN who fell off her horse in open countryside today near St Nicholas-at-Wade, near Margate, was rescued by Kent Air Ambulance.

The woman, who was suffering back pain, was transferred to a land ambulance which took her to hospital.

A spokeswoman for Kent Air Ambulance said: “This was a useful way of using the air ambulance as the alternative would have been to carry the woman a considerable distance over the fields.

“As the injuries were not life-threatening, she was able to proceed to hospital in a land ambulance waiting at St Nicholas.”
