PART of a Kent hospital remains shut today after another suspected case of the winter vomiting virus emerged.

Bishopstone ward, at QEQM Hospital in Margate, closed to new admissions on Monday after two patients were affected by the bug.

Now another case has been reported on the ward and it will stay closed as a precaution.

A spokesman for the East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust said the ward could reopen on Thursday following a deep clean of the affected ward, provided no new cases are discovered.

The winter vomiting bug, or norovirus, affects between 600,000 and one million people every year.

It spreads easily from person to person and can cause vomiting, diarrhoea, mild fevers, aching limbs and headaches.

Symptoms usually disappear after one or two days.
