From Monday to Friday, the duo have helped thousands of listeners wake up with Kent’s biggest hits.

They’ve played 6am games and provided travel news, school-run shoutouts and the Morning Motivational Mix.

Not forgetting the legendary competition Say It – where listeners can win £1,000.

They’ve also interviewed countless singers and celebrities on air, including Tom Grennan, Olly Murrs, Pixie Lott and Ella Henderson.

Garry, who has spent 10 years at the station, says waking people up was “a real privilege” and an honour he will “never take for granted”.

He said: “The kmfm Breakfast Show is an increasingly rare and precious thing, a truly local show made by a small team who love where they live, love what they do and have a special bond with their listeners.

“I realise how lucky I am to work alongside some of the most amazing, hilarious and brilliant people on and off air. I won’t embarrass them, but they know who they are.

“And then there are the listeners.

“There isn’t a single day when their calls, posts and messages don’t make me laugh out loud or bowl me over with their huge warmth, wit and generosity.”

He added: “But...3am alarms are never fun (no one should be up before the local wildlife) and having recently celebrated 10 years of them and with Christmas round the corner I think it’s time to work more sensible hours, remind my children what I look like (poor things) and see if I am physically able to stay awake past the opening credits of the latest Netflix drama.

“I proudly pass on the sacred kmfm mic muff to the new breakfast team knowing that, if they have just half the fun I’ve had, they will have the time of their lives!”

Chelsea joined the station in September 2022, bringing a brand new voice as well as an eclectic music taste and bubbly personality.

The former musical theatre student said: “Two and a half years, 650 shows, 2,672 cups of coffee, 10 days in Barbados, eight Christmas light switch-ons, one blue morphsuit, a beard, a rave at the Sapper Games and a hell of a lot of fun!

“The show has been the biggest gift and I’ve loved having a laugh through the airwaves.

“From vlogging the Brit Awards, being on Barbados morning television and helping our charity campaign records, it’s been a blast!

“Thank you so much to everyone that has listened, sang along at 6am, honked for gonks and been unashamedly silly with me!”

The new breakfast show will be announced in January but promises to include familiar names at the station.

kmfm is one of the only local radio stations dedicated to broadcasting to its region with shows made in the area and has 187,000 listeners tuning in every week.

You can listen on FM and DAB, smart speaker, the app and online.
