Plans to host outdoor parties in the car park of a high street hotel have angered people living nearby.

The Gordon House Hotel, High Street, Rochester, could be allowed to hold a number of outdoor parties until 1.30am.

The owners have applied to Medway Council to change their existing licence so they can play music at late-night parties in a marquee four times a year, as well as at outdoor events for the Sweeps and Dickens festivals.

If councillors approve the plans the hotel will also be able to serve food until 1.30am and alcohol until 1am.

But the application has angered residents living at the nearby sheltered home, The French Hospital, in La Providence.

But co-managers of the hotel Monodip Shome and Mei Hah Shome said measures would be taken to minimise the effect on the local area.

The matter will appear before a Licensing Hearing Panel on Tuesday.
