A MAN escaped injury when he jumped from a first floor window of a burning house.

Firefighters from Bexley and Plumstead rescued a woman and a dog from the terraced house, in Wickham Lane, Welling, shortly after 1.45am on Monday.

The woman was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. The house was badly damaged by smoke.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but is not being treated as suspicious.
