A HOUSE was destroyed by a fire which broke out shortly after 11pm on Monday night.

Flames ripped through the detached home in Fen Pon Road, Ightham, devastating half of the roof and top floor and causing smoke and heat damage to the rest of the house.

Six fire crews, some using breathing apparatus, spent seven hours tackling the blaze and finally left the scene at around 6.30am this morning.

Nobody was hurt.
