AN INTERNET draw to win a £250,000 oast house for just £5 has been extended for a month.
Andrew Jewett and Angela Browne were hoping to sell enough tickets to meet their asking price by this week.
But now the couple, who are parting with their oast house in Old Wives Lees, near Canterbury, for a new life in France, say the competition will end on September 14.
They devised the internet draw and website because they thought it would be a quicker than selling their home through estate agents.
Database administrator Andrew and gardener Angela need to sell 54,000 tickets to make their dream come true. But this week, they had only sold 10,000 tickets, well short of their target.
But even if the house does not become the star prize, one lucky winner will collect the cash from all the ticket sales, after the website setting up and administration costs have been deducted.
Angela said: "We have had the house on the market for a little while but thought the draw might give us a quicker sale.
"So many people now find it difficult to get on the property ladder because of rising prices. It really is still a fantastic opportunity for someone to win a lovely house for just £5."
The oast was built around the turn of the century and retains its traditional white cowl. Its most impressive feature is a double aspect sitting room which has far-reaching views over the surrounding countryside.
