Local estate agent Your Move is highlighting the opportunities now available to sellers to market their properties to millions of potential buyers.
Susi Whigham, area sales director for Your Move in Canterbury, said: "Making sure your property is seen by as many potential buyers as possible is obviously one of the most important priorities for anyone trying to sell.
"When using an estate agent most people can expect to have a For Sale board, sales particulars and local press advertising organised to encourage local buyers. What some agents don’t consider, however, is the wider market and how important it is to have ongoing exposure for a property – not just locally but nationally, too.
"It’s been said that between 85 and 90 per cent of homebuyers now use the internet to search for properties when looking to move so it’s now becoming increasingly important to use an agent who utilises technology as much as possible.
"Take a look at any estate agency website and it’s often interesting to see how they market properties and what additional features they offer to enhance sales.
"Some, for example, can allow visitors to book appointment like viewings, or mortgage appointments, receive details of new properties that come to market, sign up for newsletters or even make an offer on a property – all online.
"And, the opportunity for the customer to do this at a time and place that suits them must surely encourage a potential buyer to use that agency’s site.
"Some also offer search facilities which allow buyers to locate properties in areas and price brackets that suit them. This is particularly useful for those looking to relocate to another area and who need to view property before visiting in person.
"For sellers some agency websites also allow them to track the progress of their sale by providing milestone dates from ‘offer accepted’ to completion and ensures they are kept up-to-date at all times.
"It’s not just about the agency website, however, it’s also important that an agent arranges for a property to be marketed on other well-known sites called property portals. These can attract more than 37 million visitors each month, including a significant number of potential buyers."
