His work touched the hearts of generations of schoolchildren.

But the death of Oliver Postgate last month left Bagpuss and Clangers fans around the world in mourning.

Now, in his own words, fellow creator Peter Firmin tells of the magic moments they met, designed puppets and even had a brush with royalty!

He tells of their time in Kent, and how they used the county's landscape as their background.

And he talks about the inimitable Postgate only he knew:

"We certainly had fun. When he wanted to animate a dance for Mr and Mrs Pogle he dragged me away from my drawing board to dance with him in the farmyard – and with the school bus passing by!"
