I do...I do, I do, I do, I do

For most couples planning one wedding is enough.

But Tony and Larisa Caplin have made a hobby out of it – and are putting the finishing touches to their fifth ceremony.

The couple of Godwin Road, Thanington, have said “I do” four times so far – in Canterbury register office, followed by India, Egypt and Thailand.

Their next ceremony will be on a snow-clad mountain in Bulgaria and is unlikely to be their last.

Tony, 44, and Larisa, 23, met in a strawberry field in Faversham three-and-a-half years ago.

Tony was working as a supervisor on a soft fruit farm and Larisa, from Russia, was on a working holiday.

They married at Canterbury Register Office on November 7, 2005, after a six-month romance.

The other wedding ceremonies were on an Indian beach, in the middle of the Egyptian desert and while on holiday in Thailand.

Tony said of the the fifth wedding: “We will be getting married on a mountain and will ski back down afterwards. It sounds great.”

But why do they keep tying the knot?

“It has become a kind of hobby,” admitted Larisa. “They say you can never have enough gods on your side and it’s true.”

Tony and Larisa still hope to have a traditional Russian wedding and are also set on the bright lights of Las Vegas: “I want us to get married as we fly over the Grand Canyon in a hot air balloon. In some ways that would be the ultimate,” said Tony.
