Kent Politics Podcast: Reform’s William Fotheringham-Bray

On this week’s Kent Politics Podcast we welcome William Fotheringham-Bray who hit the headlines after a drunken video led to him being suspended by Reform.

The 24-year-old almost caused the shock of the 2024 general election when he came close to winning the formerly safe Tory seat of Sittingbourne and Sheppey.

But at the weekend a video, filmed on a train after a night out, was leaked with him criticising a colleague.

The Sheerness resident starts the interview with a fulsome apology to the person concerned and the party overall.

He talks about what happened and where it potentially leaves him professionally and personally.

The team also discuss unhappiness with a town being overlooked for a £6m health centre and hear the latest on council devolution.

The government’s £5bn cuts to welfare are also debated.

The weekly podcast brings together Simon Finlay, Robert Boddy and Dan Esson, of the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

Simon covers Kent County Council while Robert reports on Medway Council and Dan specialises in borough and district councils.

They are joined by KM Group news editor Nikki White who looks at what’s happening with Kent and Medway’s MPs in Westminster.
