Two illegal workers have been arrested by the UK Border Agency after a raid on curry house.
The men, who are both from Bangladesh, were detained at the Tandoori Parlour, in Rainham High Street.
The operation was staged after the agency's immigration team received a tip-off that people might have been working there illegally.
After checking the immigration status of staff, officers found two men aged 26 and 18 who had overstayed their visas.
Both have been detained pending their removal from this country.
The owners of the restaurant now face a fine of up to £20,000 if they cannot prove the correct right-to-work checks, such as asking for a passport or work permit, were carried out.
Karyn Dunning, from the UK Border Agency, said: "The message is clear for employers - we will not tolerate illegal working.
"It is a crime that not only undercuts local business but also has a serious impact on communities, taking jobs from those who are genuinely allowed to work.
"It is the legal responsibility of all employers to check that staff have the right to work in the UK.
"There are simple ways of checking a foreign national's right to work and there are no excuses for failing to do so."
