A meat thief and a man four times the drink-drive limit are among those to face justice in Kent's magistrates' courts this week.

Drink-driver banned for almost four years

Alex Craig, of Arundel Avenue, Sittingbourne, drove a Citroen Relay in Canterbury Road, Herne, and gave a blood test of 187 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 80 milligrammes.

The 29-year-old is banned from driving for three and a half years and has to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months.

He must also pay £300 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

Ashford man behind bars for stealing chop saw worth £350

Oliver Hilden, of Newtown Green, Ashford, broke into a block of flats in Victoria Crescent, Ashford, and stole a chop saw worth £350.

The 34-year-old also stole a bicycle worth £400 in Essella Road, Ashford.

Magistrates sentenced Hilden to 140 days in prison. He must also pay £400 compensation and a £115 victim surcharge.

Man three times the drink-drive limit sent to prison

Homeless Gabriel Kulcsar drove a Daff HGV at Eastern Docks, Dover, and gave a breath test that was more than three times the limit.

Magistrates sentenced the 42-year-old to 90 days in prison and banned him from driving for three years. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Broadstairs man won't be driving for more than a year

Stewart McCleery, of Poplar Road, Broadstairs, drove a Volkswagen Golf on the Thanet Way, and gave a breath test of 63 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The 43-year-old is banned from driving for a year and a half. He must also pay a £405 fine, £85 costs and a £41 victim surcharge.

Identity card fraudster sentenced

Homeless Kashama Tshiasuma, had Belgian and French identity cards that related to other people in his possession at Eastern Docks, Dover.

Magistrates sentenced the 38-year-old to eight weeks in prison, and he must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Homeless man sentenced for assault

Jordan Smith, of no fixed address, assaulted a woman and used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards another woman at a shop in Gravel Walk, Canterbury.

Magistrates sentenced the 23-year-old to 42 days in prison, suspended for 18 months. He must also pay £100 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Tobacco thief put behind bars

Homeless Daniel Reed stole a sat nav, charging cables and window mount worth £250 from a vehicle in Leicester Road, Maidstone.

On another day he stole £220 in cash and tobacco worth £230 from a vehicle in Warnford Gardens, Maidstone.

Magistrates sentenced the 38-year-old to 84 days in prison. He must also pay £100 compensation.

Meat thief handed prison sentence

Joseph Scott, of Castle Street, Canterbury, stole meat from a shop in Mortimer Street, Herne Bay.

The 27-year-old must serve 10 days in prison. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Drink driver more than three times the limit sentenced

Darren Smyth, of Hereson Road, Ramsgate, drove a Nissan Navaro in Cecilia Road, Ramsgate, and gave a breath test that showed he was more than three times the limit.

Magistrates sentenced the 37-year-old to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for two years, banned him from driving for three years and ordered him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Folkestone driver banned for a year and a half

Mathew Chapman, of Westbourne Gardens, drove a Vauxhall Combo in Broadfield Crescent, Folkestone, without a licence and with no insurance. He also gave a breath test almost double the limit.

Magistrates banned the 27-year-old from driving for a year and a half and he must also pay a £300 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Gravesend man sentenced for driving offences

Harmeet Photay, of Dickens Road, drove a Ford Focus in Wrotham Road, Gravesend, while disqualified and with no insurance.

Magistrates sentenced the 27-year-old to eight weeks in prison, suspended for one year, and ordered him to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Strood man won't be driving for more than a year

Aaron Gove, of Brompton Lane, drove a Saab 93 in Northcote Road, Strood, and gave a breath test that showed he was more than double the limit.

The 36-year-old is banned from driving for a year and eight months. He must also pay a £300 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Gillingham man sentenced for drugs offence

Aarpm Herlihy, of Winchester Way, was convicted of "being concerned in the supply" of cannabis in Gillingham.

The 30-year-old was handed 30 days in prison, suspended for 18 months. He must also pay £250 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Desmond Dickson, of Holcombe Road, drove a Toyota Yaris in Commercial Road, Strood, without a licence and with no insurance.

He also gave a breath test of 62 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The 29-year-old is banned from driving for a year and a half. He must also pay a £350 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Faversham man to do 100 hours of unpaid work

Eli Smith, of Lewis Close, drove a Renault Clio in Lower Road, Faversham, while disqualified, with no insurance and while using a mobile phone.

Magistrates sentenced the 21-year-old to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for a year, and ordered him to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Six year driving ban for Northfleet man

Sanvir Klair, of Beaumont Drive, Northfleet, drove a Ford Fiesta in Marks Avenue, Gravesend, while disqualified and with no insurance.

He also gave a breath test that was more than double the drink-drive limit.

Magistrates sentenced the 24-year-old to 90 days in prison, suspended for a year, banned him from driving for six years and ordered him to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Folkestone man sentenced for assault

Jason Stowers, of Marine Terrace, assaulted a man and damaged a bus windscreen in St Clements Way, Greenhithe.

The 33-year-old was sentenced to 120 days in prison, suspended for a year and a half. He must also pay £300 compensation.

Clothes thief sent to prison

Stephen Bignall, of Laburnum Place, Sittingbourne, stole clothing worth £180 from a shop in The Forum Shopping Centre, Sittingbourne.

Magistrates sentenced the 35-year-old to 40 days in prison. He must also pay £180 compensation and a £115 victim surcharge.

Sheerness man more then four times the drink-drive limit sentenced

Michael Webster, of St George’s Avenue, Sheerness, drove a Ford Focus in Minster Road while disqualified and with no insurance.

He also gave a breath test that showed he was more than four times the drink-drive limit.

The 53-year-old was handed a 60-days prison sentence, suspended for a year, banned from driving for four years and given a three month curfew to remain at home between 8pm and 6am daily until February 17.

He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Wrotham man given 150 hours of unpaid work for assault

Oztekin Mehmet, of London Road, assaulted a man at a paintball centre in Dundale Road, Tunbridge Wells.

Magistrates ordered the 56-year-old to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £200 compensation, £400 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Homeless man sentenced for car crimes

Rafal Tylkowski took a Ford Focus without the owner’s consent and damaged it.

He drove the vehicle in Royal Engineers’ Road, Maidstone, without a licence, with no insurance and failed to provide a breath test.

Magistrates sentenced the 29-year-old to 12 weeks in prison, suspended for a year, banned him from driving for three years and ordered him to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Edenbridge woman sentenced after being three times the limit

Shelly Crudgington, of Frant Field, drove a Mini in Chart Lane, Brasted, and gave a breath test that showed she was three times the drink-drive limit.

The 31-year-old is banned from driving for three and a half years. She must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Tonbridge man handed curfew and fines

Mario Salvato, of Severn Close, stole two mobile phones worth an unknown amount from two men in Sevenoaks.

He also offered to supply the men with Zopiclone and Diazepam, class C drugs.

The 36-year-old was sentenced to 156 days in prison, suspended for two years, and given an eight week curfew to remain at home between 8pm and 6am daily until January 12 2017. He must also pay £5 compensation and £300 costs.

Garlinge woman won't be driving for almost two years

Jane Webb, of High Street, drove a Toyota Celica in College Road, Margate, and gave a urine test that showed she had 226 milligrammes of alcohol in her system - more than double the legal limit.

Magistrates banned the 56-year-old from driving for just under two years. She must also pay a £225 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
