The plane wreckage was finally removed from the scene on Wednesday morning by air accident investigators who continue to probe the cause of the crash.

A Cessna Citation jet crashed shortly after taking off from nearby Biggin Hill airport at around 2.20pm on Sunday killing all five on board.

The family living next door to number five Romsey Close returned to the crash site on Tuesday and said their thoughts are with those who died in the crash.

Kevin Wood, 43, said: "I would first like to say thank you to everyone who has helped me and my family over the past couple of days, which has been a very emotional time.

"We are very thankful that no-one else was seriously hurt in the accident and our thoughts are with the family of the people who died."

His wife Gillian Wood, 37, was at home with her sister Karen, their four sons and elderly parents when the plane clipped their house, crushing their garage and wrecking their car.

Mr Wood added: "They are still in deep shock. They heard the noise and saw a fireball and just got out as quickly as possible.

"As they ran out they saw fire and smoke.

"Every time I think about it, it cuts me up."
