A GIRL of 16 was approached from behind by a man who indecently assaulted her as she walked along Lancelot Avenue in Strood.

The girl managed to run away and the police were called. The incident happened between 5.30pm and 5.40pm on Saturday, November 25.

The suspect is described as being black, around 5ft 6in tall with short hair. He wore a black jacket and green and white camouflage style trousers.

Det Sgt Mel Rickersey said: "This was a distressing incident for the girl concerned and we are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the assault or has any information that may be able to help us with this investigation."
