Kent League chairman Denise Richmond has been delighted with the initial reaction of clubs hoping to take their place in the Kent Invicta League - the new step 6 division in the county.

Having formed part of the step 6 steering group, which has included Kent League and Kent County League officials working together to form the new set-up, she has been thrilled by the early feedback ahead of the start of the new league in August.

"The initial response has been very positive and the desire to push on is clearly there from the clubs," she said.

"It's brilliant that it will be up and running in time for the start of next season but there's still a lot of hard work ahead."

Founder clubs will meet at the start of June, with invitations expected to be sent out by the FA shortly, while the meeting should also see key positions such as chairman and secretary filled.

"It will be an important day for the Kent Invicta League," added Mrs Richmond (pictured). "It's another part of the countdown to the first day of next season and we'll know on June 2 exactly which clubs will be in the first constitution of the new league."

The meeting will also provide an opportunity for club representatives to join the new league's committee.
