Injured driver freed from car

A MAN was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a road accident in Sutton Valence, near Maidstone.

The incident took place yesterday afternoon when two cars, a Metro and a Daewoo, were in collision at the junction of Bircholt Road and Sutton Road in the village.

Both police and firefighters were called to the scene. A woman and child in the Daewoo escaped with minor injuries but the male passenger had to be cut from the car by Maidstone firefighters.

He was taken to Maidstone Hospital where he was treated for fractured ribs, a suspected broken pelvis and cuts and bruises. He was kept in overnight.

The elderly male driver of the Metro received only minor injuries.
