Inquest to open on car blaze tragedy

POLICE say an inquest is to open tomorrow (Thursday) on a man who died in hospital soon after being found inside a burning car.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service discovered the man when they were called to Gleaming Wood Drive, Lordswood, near Chatham, at around 2am on Tuesday.

He was taken to the Medway Maritime Hospital at Gillinghamn where he died. He has not yet been named but is thought to have been in his 40s.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious at this stage, but are investigating the circumstances.
