Enjoying both Stateside and UK success in the early 1980s is something Nik Kershaw looks back on with a mix of amusement, surprise and pride.

The Kent Messenger Group's Neill Barston spoke to him about his chart success and debut in Kent at this weekend's Days For Heroes event.

The event - which is headlined by McFly - is at Detling Showground on Sunday.

As well as Nik Kershaw, also on stage will be Jocelyn Brown, The City Girls, The Counterfeit Stones, Cheryl Baker & Shaun Williamson.

There will be a funfair with free rides and many military attractions, including an assault course, BB range, full-size Harrier Jump Jet, flight simulators and a parachute display team.
