An IT problem is causing chaos for all GP practices in Kent and Medway with patients unable to book appointments.
NHS Kent and Medway has revealed all surgeries in the county have been affected by a problem with the phone and booking systems.
A spokesman said: "We are aware of an IT issue affecting the phone and booking systems of all GP practices across the county.
"If you already have an appointment booked, please attend as usual.
"We are working to get this fixed as soon as possible. Please be patient with practice staff while we do."
Wateringbury Surgery explained it was forced to switch off its booking system due a "critical incident" across the county.
Greensand Health Centre in Linton, Maidstone, told patients this morning: "Unfortunately, GP surgeries throughout Kent & Medway, including ourselves have been affected by a major IT incident which had been ongoing since yesterday.
"This means we do not have access to the internet. This is having a direct impact on our services."
The health centre said the problem has been "escalated to the highest level" within the NHS service.
It added: "We can only apologise for the inconvenience, but as we are sure you can appreciate this situation is completely outside our control."
Headcorn Surgery said the issue is "national NHS problem" and it is being resolved "as quickly as possible".
It told patients: "We currently do not have access to our phone system at all.
"If you have an urgent matter you need to discuss then you can attend the surgery and our reception team will do their best to assist you."
NHS Kent and Medway has been approached for more information.
