Danny Spiller believes that young midfielder Jack Payne will become hot property for Gillingham.
Payne (pictured) 18, emerged from the Gills’ youth ranks two years ago and has already been earning rave reviews, none more so than from his team-mate.
"Jack has the world at his feet," said Spiller. "He plays with an experienced head on his shoulders and it’s not often you get an 18 or 19-year-old sitting in front of the back four and dictating play.
"He’s got a lot of ability and a true professional on and off the pitch, which is just as important. He’s going to create a lot of interest and is going to be hot property."
Spiller also progressed through the Gillingham youth set-up and enjoyed his best years while at Priestfield during his last stint at the club.
A series of impressive performances led to rumours of interest from the likes of West Ham and Spiller, now an experienced head in the team, is ready to pass on his wisdom if needed.
He said: "I had it to a certain extent and, if he needs a chat, then any of the senior pros are there to lend a hand but I don’t think he’ll need it because he just seems to be taking everything in his stride."
