A bishop with links to Kent blessed the wedding of Jade Goody and Jack Tweed when they married at a country house in Hertfordshire at the weekend.

The Most Reverend Jonathan Blake, Bishop of Greater London and presiding archbishop of the independent London-based Open Episcopal Church, used to live in Rainham and worked as a curate in Rochester. He also worked as vicar in Bexleyheath for five years.

On Thursday Bishop Blake made a home visit to Jade and her finace but refused to confirm his role at the wedding ceremony which took place at noon on Sunday at Down Hall Country House Hotel in Hertfordshire.

However, according to the BBC a source said he may be involved alongside a registrar.

Bishop Blake hit the headlines earlier this month after he was arrested for photographing his children sitting on the rooftop of his Welling home.

He told police he had taken the snap as part of a school challenge asking pupils for pictures of themselves reading in unusual places.

Jack Tweed, who is on a curfew after being convicted of assault last year, has had his curfew conditions relaxed to allow him to spend his wedding night with Jade.
