A man who targeted commuters’ cars at railway stations across the South East for their sat navs to fund his drug taking has been jailed for 20 months.
Among the stations Paul Amores, 36, visited was Staplehurst.
During his five-month crime spree he stole nearly £20,000 worth of GPS equipment.
As well as a jail sentence, Amores, of Croydon Road, Beckenham, was given an anti-social behaviour order banning him from entering any station car park for five years or interfering with any vehicle except his own.
Southwark Crown Court heard that Amores would cruise around railway car parks before picking a car and smashing a window. He caused more than £18,000 worth of damage and also stole property including golf clubs, designer sunglasses, CDs and music players.
When arrested, he told police he had committed at least another 108 crimes which he asked to be taken into consideration at his trial.
Amores admitted seven charges of theft, one of attempted theft and breaching a conditional discharge.
Judge Andrew Goymer described the offences as having taken place during a “crime spree”. He believed they were too serious for Amores to be considered for a drug rehabilitation programme.
