Welling boss Jamie Day has praised striker Tom Whitnell after he continued his scoring form at Newport on Saturday.
Whitnell scored a second-half brace as the Wings came from 2-0 down to earn a point.
The striker, who took his tally for the season to 12 in the process, nearly snatched the points in injury time but was denied by a fine save.
"When Tommy gets a chance then you know that nine times out of 10 he will take it," said Day.
"He probably only had three chances against Newport but he scored two of them. The front two (Whitnell and Andy Pugh) did really well, their movement was excellent."
Day has now told his team to build on the draw at runaway leaders Newport and set up a play-off challenge ahead of Tuesday night's Blue Square South trip to Hampton & Richmond.
The Wings play three teams below them in the table - Hampton, Dorchester and Weymouth - before visiting play-off hopefuls Woking later this month.
Day added: "February is going to be a big month for us.
"We're playing teams that are below us and we need to look to get maximum points which will set us up for when we go to Woking at the end of the month.
"We more than held our own (against Newport) so the confidence should be there and we need to kick on now and look to get into the play-offs.
"We're confident in the dressing room but we don't want to get over-confident."
