Welling boss Jamie Day admitted his team did not do enough to beat Dartford on Sunday.
Lee Noble's stunning fourth-minute goal separated the sides but shotshy Welling failed to test Darts keeper Louis Wells throughout the 90 minutes.
Day (pictured) said: "We had enough possession and passed the ball well at times but we lacked an end product or enough quality in the final third.
"We had enough half-chances in the first half that we should have made more of.
"It was a tight game, Dartford were at home and had one shot and scored. We had more of the ball than they did but we didn't create enough."
Day will meet his players this week to discuss their future while he should also find out his budget for next season from club owners Barry and Barrie Hobbins.
Skipper Jack Parkinson, Jack Obersteller, Loick Pires, Luis Cumbers and Anthony Acheampong have already been re-engaged for next season, meaning the Wings would be entitled to compensation should they move on during the close season.
"The budget will be key to our plans," said Day. "If we can't afford to keep them then we will have to rebuild with youngers players, if the budget is similar then we'll look to try and keep 85% of the team and go from there."
Day paid tribute to his opposite number, Tony Burman, and admitted the Darts are geared up for the next level.
"Tony has done a great job," he added. "Every two years he has got promotion.
"Dartford have a decent ground and fanbase, and they finished second for a reason. On the day they got the result and potentially they can go on from here now."
