THOUSANDS of home-bound motorists were stuck in massive jams last night after two articulated lorries were in collision on the M20 earlier in the day.

The collision sparked a fire which left one man injured and closed the motorway in one direction.

The crash happened on the London-bound carriageway between junction three, near Trottiscliffe, and junction four, near Larkfield. One man was taken to Maidstone Hospital suffering from burns.

One of the lorries was carrying machine parts and the other soft toys. The fire which broke out after the crash severely damaged one of the lorries and partially damaged the other.

Traffic was diverted off the motorway. The Highways Agency attended to assess the damage done to the inside lane.
