Jerome Titlow impresses in regional qualifying for the Open Golf Championship at the London Golf Club

Amateur Jerome Titlow produced a superb performance in the Open Golf Championship regional qualifying event at the London Club on Monday.

Titlow, a member of the Ash club, used his course knowledge to fire a 65 - one shot behind the leading qualifier, Richard Neil-Jones (unattached).

Also among the 15 qualifiers from the London club were Michael Bush (Rochester & Cobham Park) and Daniel Casey (London Club) with 68s, amateur Jordon Godwin (Rochester & Cobham Park) and Michael Davenport (Stonelees Golf Centre) on 69, and Matt Ford (Marriott Tudor Park) with a 70 - all of whom will now got forward to Local Final Qualifying for the Open at one of four Scottish courses on June 29.

Two other players who fired a 70, Peter Appleyard (Wilderness) and Greg Hazelby (Knole Park) will be among the reserves for Local Final Qualifying along with another amateur from The London Club, Billy Britton, who fired a 71.

Among the Kent-based players who narrowly missed out were Prince's professional Francis McGuirk and London Club amateur Terence Crawley, who both shot 71.

At East Sussex National, amateur Todd Adcock from The Nevill Club was among the eight qualifiers after shooting a 71.
