A Chatham girl has progressed through to the final of a national music competition with her band Jewelz.

Havva Ramadan, from Westmount Avenue, Chatham, entered the Live and Unsigned 2009 competition in January and the band have now reached the third round of the competition and battled through the regional live final.

The next stage, the area finals, will be held at the Beck Theatre in Hayes, London with the girls looking for all the support they can get on Sunday, May 3.

Havva, 23, said: “We’re very excited and grateful to have the opportunity to compete with such talented people.

“We’ve worked so hard to put this all together so hopefully you’ll be seeing us at the final in Portsmouth.”

The final will be held at Portsmouth Guildhall on Saturday, June 27.

Chris Grayston, events director of Live & Unsigned said: “This year’s standard has been higher than ever, we have seen some really serious acts that are demonstrating a real wealth of talent, experience and determination to crack the industry.

“The competition is really coming alive now and it is a real opportunity for the remaining acts to break through.”

You can book to see Lena, Gem-Marie, Gemma and Havva at the gig, with tickets for sale at £7.50 each by logging on to www.myspace.com/jewelztheband or www.liveandunsigned.uk.com.
