Jo Kuffour will be denied the chance to get one over former club Bristol Rovers on Friday after receiving an injection to help cure a problematic knee injury.
Kuffour (pictured) joined the Gills from Rovers in January but he has been playing with an injury that will only get worse if he continues to play.
He received an injection on Sunday and won’t now be available until, at the earliest, the Easter Monday home match against Dagenham.
"It is something that can’t be put off and it’s something that is getting progressively worse," said Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler.
"He is going to have it done and he will be available for the last five games."
Hessenthaler will have to make do without fellow striker Gavin Tomlin for another weekend. Friday will be too early for the 29-year-old and his is unable to play against Dagenham on Monday – the team he is on loan from.
Reacting to the on-going injury situation, Hessenthaler said: "This season it’s been a joke but that’s how it has gone, we have had a lot of injuries.
"I would like to think he (Tomlin) would be training on that Monday and then he could be back available for Oxford away."
