Joe Denly has targeted being fit for England’s fourth one-day international against Australia at Lord’s on Saturday.
The Kent and England opener missed the first three games in the seven-match series after injuring his left knee, playing football at The Brit Oval last week, following a tackle by team-mate Owais Shah.
Scans revealed no serious damage and Denly has stayed with the squad.
Speaking after training in Southampton on Tuesday, he said: "It’s encouraging and I’m mightily relieved to get the all-clear. I was wiped out and in bits when it happened and thought it could put me out of the series and the Champions Trophy in South Africa.
"I had a net at the Rose Bowl on Tuesday and hopefully I have a chance of playing on Saturday."
