KENT wicketkeeper Geraint Jones was named npower man-of-the-match at Headingley as England wrapped up a nine-wicket win over New Zealand.
Playing his first ever hame at the Leeds Test venue, Jones followed his fourth-day hundred with a stunning catch and sharp run out to polish off the Kiwi tail this morning.
The 27-year-old Australian-raised keeper collected a cheque for £2,500 and a gold medallion in only his third Test appearance as England wrapped up a 2-0 series win.
He told the Leeds crowd: "Considering it is my first ever match at Headingley it has been a very special start.
"It's something I've been working hard toward but it's great now that it has arrived and i'm very happy."
Describing his incredible diving catch that removed Kiwi player Scott Styris, Jones added: "The hundred gave a great start going into our stint in the field, if you've gone out there and scored a hundred you are on a high and that makes the keeping that little bit easier.
"Marcus Trescothick had gone a little bit wider at slip I lucky got the right mitt to it and it stuck.
"The goalkeeping work I did earlier in the year paid off in that split second."
England, Jones and his Kent team-mate Martin Saggers will now head south for Thursday's third and final Test at trent Bridge in Nottingham where England seem certain to name an unchanged side.
