Jordan Obita has returned to Reading after the Championship club decided against letting him extend his stay at Gillingham.

The teenage winger (pictured) made an immediate impact with the Gills after scoring on his first start for club, in a 3-1 win over Barnet.

During the month he made six appearances - with five starts - and scored three goals. His netted a brace in Gillingham's 3-0 win at Cheltenham.

Obita, 18, was an unused substitute during Saturday's 2-0 win over Macclesfield but manager Andy Hessenthaler was still keen to keep hold of the England youth international.

Hessenthaler said: "In the games he played he did very well for us. He goes back to a club that are absolutely flying and I wish them well."
