Journalist held in Kent over police payments probe

A journalist from Kent has been arrested by detectives investigating corrupt payments to police and public officials.

Scotland Yard confirmed he was held in the county alongside another journalist arrested in south east London.

The 37-year-old journalist from Kent is believed to be Justin Penrose, the Sunday Mirror crime reporter.

The other journalist, 34, is thought to be Tom Savage, from the Daily Star on Sunday.

The pair are being questioned at police stations in Kent and south east London.

It means 41 people have been questioned as part of Operation Elveden - running alongside the police probe into phone-hacking.
