GOODNESTONE farmer Alastair Brooks had good reason to celebrate after winning a prestigious award for his Jubilee strawberries during the County Show.

The full-flavoured berry is a favourite of Marks and Spencer and Mr Brooks, of Langdon Manor Farm, has an exclusive two-year contract to supply the chain with them.

Named after the Queen's Golden Jubilee the breed starts flowering in July and continues until about October.

The farm grows about five acres of Jubilee among a total 100 acres of other strawberry types.
