THREE members of a people smuggling gang who flew illegal immigrants into the country to secluded airstrips in Kent and the south east have been convicted.

Mensur Hassan, 35 from Hackney in east London, 29-year-old Feyzullah Gulsen from Palmers Green in north London and Wyatt Anderson, 49, from Camberley in Surrey were all found guilty on Tuesday of conspiring to facilitate the entry of illegal immigrants into the UK.

The Turkish nationals were flown from locations in France and Belgium to airstrips in England. A runway in Lamberhurst was one of the places used to transport the people in a six-seater Piper Cherokee light aircraft in July 2004.

Three others - Isa Baskaya, 47 from Hackney, and Anthony and Jeanette Davies, both 43, from Edmonton in north London - have already admitted their involvement.

All six will all be sentenced on Monday.
