See how the planes
were given the eye-catching makeover

Kent artist Tracey Emin has unveiled a piece of art somewhat
bigger than she's used to... an aeroplane!

The 48-year-old, who grew up in Margate, was at Heathrow airport
this morning to take the wraps off an eye-catching Airbus A319.

She chose the distinctive gold and white dove design to appear
on nine British Airways aircraft this summer.

The livery was inspired by the Olympics - doves have been
used in previous Games ceremonies, including the last London
Olympics in 1948.

Tracey, a former Turner prize nominee, said: "The first time I
saw the design it made me smile. I'll be looking up every time I
hear a plane fly overhead - you never know, maybe I'll turn
into a plane spotter!"

The launch of the giant flying canvas comes less than two months
before Tracey launches her first major solo exhibition at the
Turner Contemporary art gallery in Margate.

She Lay Down Deep Beneath the Sea runs from May 26-September
23.
