Kent captain Rob Key has praised the contributions of unsung heroes James Tredwell and Simon Cook to the side this season.
Tredwell returned figures of 3-18 and was named man-of-the-match against Durham, while Cook went for only 10 runs from his four overs and took one wicket.
It was the latest impressive displays from two solid players who do not find themselves in the limelight as often as some of their team-mates.
Key said: "Cook has been a big part of our side for a number of years. We haven’t seen a lot of him in the Championship for a couple of years but this year he has been bowling brilliantly.
"Tredwell didn’t have as good a year as he should have done last year but this year he has been fantastic again. He keeps improving which is credit to him.
"They are not the loudest and most glamourous of cricketers, they just go about their business. That doesn’t mean they should not be looked at because you don’t have to scream and shout to be noticed.
"I think Tredwell is having his best Championship year and has got 34 wickets, which is a fair few more than Monty (Panesar) has in the same division."
