Kent are set to make an announcement next week regarding contract extensions.
A total of 13 players at all levels of the playing staff – senior, development and academy – will be included.
In the senior squad, Geraint Jones, Darren Stevens, Sam Northeast, Ben Harmison and Simon Cook all have deals which run out this summer.
A new deal for Sam Billings and the prospect of Brendan Nash staying as the county’s overseas player are two other issues that are also likely to be confirmed by the club.
Chief executive Jamie Clifford is believed to be finalising minor details.
Meanwhile, Rob Key says the Clydesdale Bank 40 drubbing against Sussex Sharks wasn’t the sole reason why Kent Spitfires missed out on a semi-final spot.
The nine-wicket defeat at Canterbury on Monday and Warwickshire Bears beating below-strength Yorkshire Carnegie conspired to end Spitfires’ hopes of a place in the last four, having started the day as group leaders.
The skipper conceded it was the two games against Unicorns earlier which ultimately proved costly.
Key says his side’s focus will now be on keeping their promotion hopes alive in the final three LV= County Championship Division 2 matches, the latest of which, against Leicestershire, began at Grace Road on Tuesday.
Derbyshire visit Canterbury next Tuesday (10.30am).
